Professor Brown at the California Conservation Corps Community Garden in Southern California.

About Professor Brown

I’m Professor Brown, a gardening and sustainability educator based in Southern California. I teach regenerative gardening and sustainability at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, working with students of all ages and experience levels.

I created Growing With Professor Brown to make practical, science-based gardening and sustainability education accessible beyond the classroom - for students, home gardeners, and anyone interested in growing food and caring for the land.

Background & Education

My academic background includes a B.S. in Environmental Biology and a Master’s degree in Regenerative Studies, with a focus on soil health, ecological restoration, and regenerative education.

My work bridges academic research and real-world gardening, emphasizing approaches that are effective, sustainable, and accessible to everyday gardeners.

You can read my Master’s thesis on environmental education in K-3 classrooms here.

Teaching & Community Work

In addition to teaching at Mt. San Antonio College, I develop free educational resources through this website and my YouTube channel. My work focuses on:

  • Regenerative and sustainable gardening

  • Soil health and ecological literacy

  • Water-wise and climate-appropriate practices

  • Garden-based education and community learning
